Our PTA - Friends of John Ruskin

ABOUT OUR PTA

The role of the PTA is to bring together parents, teachers and sponsors to raise funds and to have fun doing it! With our fundraising we aim to enrich our children’s education by providing valuable equipment, books and materials, and undertaking projects to enhance the building and facilities of the school. In addition, the PTA fund Christmas parties, school trips and other treats. We do this by organising a variety of fundraising activities.

We welcome anyone who has time, skills and talents to offer, or can help in any way with our fundraising activities.

FUNDRAISING

Sensory walls

Our current campaign is to raise money for sensory walls in the small and big playgrounds. For many children playtime can be an incredibly overwhelming and over stimulating time, and with record numbers of children attending with additional needs there is a huge need for an alternative safe space for those who struggle to cope and enjoy traditional playtime. This will make a huge difference to being able to ensure happiness and engagement of all children during their recreational time.

We would be very grateful to any parents who have links to businesses or to organisations who could share the Go Fund Me link: https://www.gofundme.com/f/friends-of-john-ruskin

The link has only been live for a couple of days and we are already a sixth of the way to our target!

FUNDRAISING EVENT

Please join us on this fun occasion and help raise money for the children of John Ruskin.

PREVIOUS FUNDRAISING PROJECTS & EVENTS

First half term 2025: Sponsored dances

FOJR asked every class to do a sponsored dance in their PE slots at school in the first half term to help raise money for the Go Fund Me campaign for sensory walls: https://gofund.me/0cd1a107.

Friends and family encouraged their child by sponsoring in one of two ways:  amount per minute OR a donation amount for completing the entire dance session.

Children were given a piece of paper to show how successful they had been.

Thank you for your support.

November 2024: Bonfire night cupcake competition
